I went to Camden Town, London last night with my brother-in-law. It’s the artsy, ‘cool’ place to go after work for a drink. We headed to a pub called Barfly to watch a band who I’d never heard of. You know, going to support mates of a mate.
And as we stood there in the upstairs of this live-venue joint, in the midst of a throng of friends and unknowns, I realized that Jesus is in the most unlikely places.
The band belted out their line-up in rocking style reminiscent of Cold Play on steroids, and a lyric struck a chord with me. “You are my anchor” And BANG! Jesus was there, in that moment, to those people, whether they wanted it or not – they felt the necessity of having an anchor that only Jesus could be.
He’s disguised, as an up-and-coming rock band, as a carpenter, as a teacher… but he’s among us, working, speaking, transforming from the inside out as our anchor.
May we all continue to awaken daily to the finding of Jesus in unlikely places.

dan lake- it's me, jen daldo... and i gotta say i'm the same way... it's not hard to find jesus in unlikely places, it just seems that we delete him from those worlds and therefore disregard him... but when we realize that he is amongst us in everyway, we'll see him in those places and realize how chill he is with them... you know?
thanks jen. i see how quickly we fail to see Jesus in the reality around us...sometimes holding out for those spiritual 'high' moments. But I really good quote about this today
"If God has come in the flesh, and God keeps coming to us in our fleshly existence, then all of life is shot through with meaning." - Paul Stevens
