Communicating a three fold message that the God of the bible is the God of today, the world has critical needs, and as believers were called to be a part.



WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE:

Authority: Everyone who is a part of Awaken is actively involved in missions. This gives them the unique authority to call people not just to "Go" into mission but to "Come" with them.

Opportunity: The Awaken network in itself provides a unique picture of many different ways one can come and be a part of missions. Awaken also seeks to provide other practical opportunities by promoting various organizations & ministries, both local and international.


WHAT WE DO:

Once a year the Awaken network gathers from our respective ministries all over the world to meet in a particular Western city for a twofold purpose. One, to encourage and refresh one another's faith through fellowship and sharing. Two, to awaken the Body of Christ in the West to how active God still is today and how they can be a part.


DEFINITION OF AWAKENERS:

An Awakener is anyone who is experiencing the power that comes when we move beyond simply believing Christ and begin following his call on our lives. We all have a heart to remember our own people apart from our primary calls, helping them have the same realization.


HOW TO BE A PART:

The primary requirement of an Awakener is to be actively involved in missions. Secondary to this, you must be committed to meet once a year in the specified Western city we are gathering in willing to serve, share, etc...


EVENT/DENVER:

The city Awaken is targeting in 2008 is Denver, CO. Young missionaries from all over the world will be gathering the last two weeks of September to saturate Denver with the crazy God-stories that are taking place right NOW! They come to share their testimonies of the transformative power that came when they moved from agreeing with Jesus to following him. Making a call not to GO... but to COME with.
The evening of September 26th 2008 Awaken is presenting a "Night of Missions" in Denver. This night is to expose through media, testimonies, and music how active God still is today all over the world, and how to be a part of what he is doing. This will be headlined by the musicians Braddigan of Dispatch (www.Braddigan.com) and new and upcoming artist Marc Scibilia (www.MarcScibilia.com). Representatives from a variety of different ministries, both local and international, will be setting up booths and available to talk to anyone interested. Our heart is to open as many doorways as we can into following Jesus in Denver and beyond.

HISTORY:
Awaken was birthed in a small village in Western Cambodia. While on a missions trip, a 20 year-old young man from the suburbs of Colorado was shocked when he saw the Bible seemingly come to life in front of him. Since day one he had been born into a Christian family. Although he grew up in the Christian culture, immersed in everything from Salty skits to Awanas, he had never experience the power of God. It wasn't until he moved from just believing in Jesus to following him that he began to experience Him first hand. While in Cambodia the biggest question on his heart was why neither he or any of his piers ever had heard about all the active stories of God that are still taking place today. During that time he felt the Lord call him to continue on in missions but not forget his own people in the West and to 'awaken' them.
Since that time in 2002, after sharing this vision to many others involved in the missions world, a network of like-hearted people began to form. A network of people who had grown up in the Church their whole lives but didn't experience the things of the Bible until they began to actually follow Jesus. Because a missionary is anyone who has followed God's call on their life rather than their own, the network includes young people doing ministry all the way from the streets of Taiwan to the classrooms of Harvard. They are all experiencing God in a way they had never before and they want others to come be a a part.
